Prep Notebook: Niagara nabs North Farmington hoopster Landon Williams

Jun 28, 2023Jun 28, 2023

North Farmington’s savvy 6-foot-4 senior floor general Landon Williams is a left-handed assassin out of the backcourt. His lethal weapon point guard skills have a future in college in the Empire State.

“Niagara made Landon a priority in their recruiting of him, they were just relentless in pursuing him the last few months.” North Farmington head coach Todd Negoshian said. “His upside is huge and he’ll be playing his best basketball when he’s in college. He has a very high basketball IQ and he’s crafty. On the court, he’s a second coach and a natural leader. This is his team to run on offense. Him and Tyler (Spratt) complement each other.”

Central Michigan came in with Williams’ first DI offer in June. Niagara offered last month. Williams is the second North Farmington hoopster to accept a Division I scholarship in as many months. Raiders’ senior swingman Tyler Spratt committed to Cleveland State back in July. North Farmington will be the favorite to repeat as OAA Red champs this winter.

Novi Detroit Catholic Central senior wing guard TJ Nadeau recently snagged offers from Saginaw Valley State and Hope. Nadeau will be a four-year starter in the backcourt for the new-look Shamrocks.

Milford forward-center Anthony Hutter is visiting Trine University in Indiana this week. The 6-foot-9 senior is an All-LVC selection in the frontcourt.

Troy junior combo guard Mason Parker participated in the invitation-only Bowling Green University prospect camp in Ohio last weekend. The spunky and fundamentally-sound Parker (5-10) averaged 20 points per game during his sophomore campaign.

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s freshman point guard Peyton Kemp got an invite to the USA Basketball Youth “Gold Camp” in Pittsburgh last weekend and according to people in attendance, “put on a show.”

“Know the difference between playing and competing” — NCAA men’s basketball broadcaster-analyst and former Duke big fella Jay Bilas.
