Fred Siriex details 'carnage' behind the scenes of Ultimate Wedding Planner

Apr 10, 2024Apr 10, 2024

Eight aspiring wedding planners are set to battle it out to become Ultimate Wedding Planner, with six brave couples agreeing to let them take control of the biggest day of their lives.

Judges Fred Siriex, Sara Davis and Raj Somaiya are on hand with their individual skill sets to help the planners and provide the best weddings they possible can.

However, First Dates star Fred Siriex recently opened up about the "carnage" which happens backstage whilst the couples are getting married.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, he explained: "I think it is great, I think it is a contest, a competition where we are here to find the best.

"The Ultimate Wedding Planner in the UK, but what you see also are these two worlds, you see the world of the bride and groom and their guests.

"You can see the difference when, for example, you see the bride and the groom's arrival but also it cuts to behind the scene and it is all carnage.

"I like that, I like that because it is a beautiful story, it is intimate, it is warm, it makes you laugh, sometimes it makes you want to cry and it's the story of the couple and their guests.

"Behind that you have the competition and you can see all these planners stressing. We go 'This is it, we have a contest'.

"After the first wedding suddenly they realise and the penny drops that 'Wow we are going to have to pull our socks off'.

"Because we are not letting anything go, if it's going to have our name behind it they have got to be bloody good."

The planners have just three days along with the bare minimum from the couples to pull off the wedding of their dreams and a budget.

Viewers will see the planner's tablescape, pull-off floral centrepieces, hand crafted aisle runners, personalised set menus, and bespoke themed installation builds.

Spectacular firework displays, acrobatics, choreographed dance troupes or incredible light displays will be on show to give the bride and groom the most memorable weddings.

Some of the ambitious weddings include a 1950’s vintage Hollywood glamour wedding to a Caribbean infused autumnal fantasyland, a regal regency extravaganza, a sustainable farmyard festival, and a millionaire’s garden party.

Ultimate Wedding Planner comes to BBC Two and BBC iPlayer from Tuesday 8 August.
